Introduction
Omega is a tank that can cause a lot of disruption to the enemy backline or peel for his more valuable damage dealers. He is best played in the jungle role as his abilities are used best running into a lane rather than simply running straight at your opponent. Omega can become one of the fastest heroes in the game thanks to his first ability, which gives him massive amounts of movement speed. Thanks to his passive, Omega can deal a lot of damage to structures if he is left alone with them. Ultimately, your goal with Omega is to get into the fight and cause as much disruption as you can before using your low cooldown ability to get out of the fight.
Skill Build
Passive: Demolition Mode
All of Omega’s abilities deal damage to structures.
Ability 1: Guardian Mode
Gain a shield and 25% movement speed bonus for 5 seconds. Omega’s next normal attack deals bonus physical damage and knocks up enemies in a small area.
Ability 2: Crash Mode
Charge forward a short distance dealing physical damage and stunning all enemies in the area.
Ability 3: Exterminate
Spin for three seconds dealing physical damage over the duration. You can not use other spells during Exterminate.
Because you cannot use any other abilities during Exterminate you want to use it as a last resort or when there is a large grouping of enemies. The best combo for Omega is to use Guardian Mode for its movement speed to get close enough to use Crash Mode on your target. Now that they are stunned you can use the knockup from Guardian Mode to keep them stunned. By this time Guardian Mode she be coming off cooldown again which should allow you to knock them up again before using Exterminate while you wait for you other skills cooldowns to come back up. The reason you don’t just use Guardian Mode to knock them up initially is because the animation is very long and can actually miss if they move out of the way. Therefore it is better to stun them with Crash Mode before using your knockup.
Recommended Talents
Punish is the only talent that you should use as Omega because it helps so much in clearing the jungle and is later turned into a slow that can be used on enemy heroes.
If you aren’t a high enough level to use Punish, the only other option you would want to use is Sprint as it helps you stick to your target. Though it is pretty unnecessary due to the high movement speed from Guardian Mode.
Items
Leviathan is a very cheap item that actually grants a lot of power and is essential when jungling. First it grants a good amount of HP for its low cost, a magical burn aura that does double damage to monsters and it increases your HP by 70 for every monster you kill after you purchase it stacking up to 15. The most important part however is that it gives you the hunter passive that lets you deal 30% extra damage to monsters and gives you 30% more experience from killing monsters. Also, it turns punish into a talent that allows you to use it on enemy heroes that does damage and slows them. Very overloaded for a 1500 gold item.
Gilded Greaves is the only item in the game that grants you resistance from crowd control effects. This item is very important as not only does it give you a good amount of MR and movement speed but it allows you to ignore the enemies CC and get to the backline.
Spear of Longinus is an all around great item that gives Omega everything he wants. 80 AD, 15% Cooldown Speed and 150 Armor as well as a passive that decreases enemy armor by 50 that stacks up to 5 times. This item comboed with an exterminate can shred the entire enemies team armor allowing them to be melted by your other Attack Damage Dealers.
Frost Cape is another strong item for Omega as it adds even more CC to his arsenal in the form of a 30% movement speed slow that is added to your normal attacks after using an ability. The item is also filled with great stats like 800 HP, 300 Armor and 10% Cooldown speed.
Hyoga’s Edge is another great item that helps you survive in fights and stick to your target. It grants 100 Armor and Magic Defense as well as a sizeable chunk of HP. The great part of this item is in its passive that grants you makes your normal attacks slow for 25% as well as granting 10% attack speed. This item guarantees nobody can get away once you’re on them
Amulet of Longevity is a great last item as it increases your max HP by 12% making all of your other items even more powerful. Its also a massive HP boost and helps you sustain in the later stages of the game.
Arcana
9x [Onslaught 3] Grants 2 AD and 3.6 Armor Pierce per.
Very standard AD rune, its better than taking Obliterate 3 as you are trading 1.2 AD for 3.6 Armor Pierce. These runes help with your initial clear and help you damage the tankier heroes.
9x [Assassinate 3] Gives 1.6 AD and 1% movement speed each.
Omega revolves around being fast and these arcana help him navigate the jungle while still giving him some damage.
9x [Mythril 3] Gives 5 Armor and 5 Magic Defense each.
Standard defensive runes for jungling, gives the most resistance against both types of damage.
Early Game
Start the game with a Hunter’s Crossbow and head to the Sage Golem. Because Omega has to spam his Guardian Mode to clear the jungle it is best to get the mana regen from the Golem before taking the giant spider and wolf camp. Cross over to the other half of your jungle to kill the lizardman and then take the Might Golem. At this point you want to start looking for an opportunity to gank a lane. If nobody is over extending or you do not think it is safe, take the Ogre camp and head back to the other side of the jungle to start the clear all over again. Jungling is all about gaining advantages for your team by abusing the 30% experience and gold increase to snowball ahead of enemy laners. Continue to clear the jungle and look for gank opportunities.
Mid Game
If you succeed in killing an opponent or at least sending them back to heal then you should take the man advantage to group and take the abyssal dragon. Save punish to execute the monster in case an enemy attempts to steal it. At this point in the game you can start abusing your passive to take down outer turrets. Use Guardian Mode as much as you can as you grants you such a significant speed boost that not many other heroes will be able to rotate around the map as fast as you. You can very easily split push a lane and wait for somebody to show up before rotating to another lane to either take an objective or start a 4v5 fight.
Late Game
At this stage in the game your damage has fallen off but that does not mean you are useless. You want to transition into the main tank role and consider selling your damage items for more HP or resistances. Your job in fights is to protect your damage dealers or cause enough of a disturbance that they can do damage for free. Try to use you speed once again to force people to rotate to deal with you then head to objectives such as the Dark Slayer.
FAQ/Tips
Sometimes its better not to use Exterminate in skirmishes as you get more value out of abusing Guardian Mode’s shields and knock ups.
Guardian Mode’s knock up can miss if the target moves out of the area of your normal attack, make sure they are locked down with Crash Mode before using it.
You can use Guardian Mode on cooldown to have a near permanent 25% movement speed increase!
Matchups
Assassins
Omega will most likely be the last target on an assassin’s list to kill so it is your job to make sure they regret trying to save you for last. Try to disrupt them as much as possible and help your team kill them before they can kill somebody and escape.
Butterfly: Because she is a very common jungler this matchup happens very often for Omega. Early on she may try to invade but that is her mistake. Though she does have more damage, its hard for her to get it out if she’s constantly stunned. In a full on fight Omega should beat her due to multiple shields and stuns. Its better not to use exterminate unless she is trying to flee.
Murad: Its hard to kill somebody you can’t hit. He can easily avoid both of your stuns and get out of range of exterminate. However if you do manage to knock him up he will become an easy kill for you or your team.
Raz: High mobility hero that can be hard to hit he will try to avoid getting into melee range of you unless he thinks he can kill you. He is unbelievably squishy however so if he does get into range you can easily fight him.
Mages
The hardest mages to dive are those with high mobility or a large variety of stuns, knockbacks or other kinds of CC. It may be better to give up early on chasing a mage as you might end up being kited to death.
Aleister: Due to Magic Prison being a targeted stun he is a strong counter to Omega’s dive as you will be stunned for a good portion of the fight without having anyway to counter it. Also Magic Barrier can be annoying as you have to go around it to not get stunned.
Azzen’Ka: Omega has such high movement speed that getting hit by Sand Punch should almost never happen. The only way you should get stunned is if you take a Sand Wraith to the face follow by an immediate dustdevil.
Ilumia: Thanks to her kit, Ilumia can be very annoying to dive due to two of her abilities being able to knock you back and her ultimate being a rather large stun. She can very easily kite you with her low cooldowns.
Krixi: Even with all the movement speed in the game Krixi’s Nature’s wrath is still a near instant knock up. One knock up shouldn’t be enough for her to get away but it can be very annoying as she also gets a large speed boost due to her passive.
Marksmen
Very similar to Mages, if the Marksmen has a way of damaging you without you being able to properly get on top of them then you may be better off disengaging.
Slimz: Savage potion is a very strong ability that allows Slimz to melt any tank in his way. Diving him as Omega is a near death sentence as he has a way to disengage as well as great abilities that help him kite. Wait for his ultimate to wear off before trying to fight him.
Tel’Annas: Due to her long range and built in slow on her normal attacks you may find yourself at half hp before even getting into range of her. Try to find a flank on her as if you simply run straight at her she will kite you to death.
Supports
The job of a support is to stop you from doing what you want which is diving the backline and killing enemy carries. While they do not pose a threat to your life they are a hinderance to your objective.
Alice: Her passive grants her a 20% movement speed buff every time she uses and ability making herself very hard to lock down. Also she has the ability to slow you by 35% and speed up her allies 30% which can make your job a living hell. Wait for Hissy Fit to come down before running in the enemy.
Chaugnar: Chaugnar’s 50% slow becomes very annoying when you’re trying to get onto squishier targets. Also his ability to not only cleanse stuns on himself but on his team can prove problematic for landing a good Guardian Mode.
Tanks
They are either trying to do your job or stop you from doing yours. Thus you want to stop them from doing their job or
Cresht: Although he is very tank and can do massive amounts of damage, he is also very susceptible to both of Omega’s CC’s. Because he is so big it is hard for him to avoid the knock up from Guardian Mode.
Mina: Omega has the ability to hard counter Mina’s ultimate. If you have Guardian mode up you will still knock her up as she is only taunting you. She can easily be chain CC’d and killed despite the 50% damage reduction.
Taara: Her 60% slow can make your job a living hell as well as her damage scaling with how low she is. She isn’t a champion you want to fight on your own as even if you do manage to get her close to death she can regen 40% of her health.
Warriors
These type of heroes are very similar to you in the fact they do your job faster but also die sooner. In a one on one fight they will most likely beat you out but that does not mean you should avoid them.
Arthur: Two of your abilities have the possibility of canceling his ultimate mid air, though they have to timed very well. Though he does have a lot of burst damage and innate tankiness, a prolonged fight may go in your favor due to having more stuns and shields.
Lubu: Conqueror gives Lubu the edge in a straight up fight, even if you do get off a solid combo he will get most of his life back thanks to his 80% lifesteal. It will also be hard to finish him due to his 20% bonus to resistances.
Zanis: This is one of the heroes you want to avoid fighting on your own as he gets a massive amount of movement speed while also cleansing any debuffs on him. He has a lot of melee steroids that allows him to out damage you even through multiple stuns and knock ups.
