Introduction
Butterfly is an all-in assassin with incredibly high DPS output that lives or dies in her ability to take out the opposing team. Her kit gives her back health and resets her abilities on each kill, making her an absolute threat when it comes to team fights or catching the enemy carries off-guard. Due to her incredibly strong attack power, Butterfly's auto attacks are an integral part of her damage kit. Butterfly is limited by her lack of health and armor, so if she fails to trigger her passive, she can easily be picked off, leaving your team without her valuable burst damage.

Skill descriptions and Skill order
Butterfly's skill-set is built for quick damage output, making her a great midlane hero with devastating roaming capabilities. Her skills are are:

Whirlwind: Butterfly swings her blade in a full arc at nearby enemies, dealing 225(+88) physical damage and reducing their movement speed by 50% for 2 seconds.

This skill is amazing for early-game poke and can be disruptive to early-game ganks. Later in the game, Whirlwind is the perfect skill to be used as a follow-up to her ultimate skill. This skill can be used while moving, which is perfect for when you are chasing down a target that is trying to get away from a gank.

Sword Propel: Butterfly throws her sword, dealing 390(+221) physical damage to enemies in its path. Also increases her attack speed by 50% for 3 seconds.

This skill is Butterfly's best option for poking down enemies and clearing jungle mobs as well. This should almost always be the first skill you get in any game type you play with Butterfly. The extreme damage that is done with this skill and the subsequent attack speed buff will make Sword Propel the skill that Butterfly's kit is essentially based around.

Backstab: Butterfly blinks behind the enemy with lowest HP (prioritizes heroes) and stabs the target, dealing 525(+238) physical damage, and increasing her damage reduction by 6 0% and movement speed by 50% for 1 second.

Once Butterfly learns her Ultimate skill, she will begin to be able to harvest kills throughout the battlefield. With the ability to do massive amounts of damage in the blink of an eye and end up.

Behind the enemy, she can then slow them with Whirlwind and then execute them with Sword Propel. As a bonus, she can use Backstab to create utter chaos in a teamfight by jumping to and killing the squishier opponents in the middle of the fight. If you are quick, you can also use Backstab as a last-ditch escape method to jump to a minion or monster.

Assassin (Passive): A Kill or an Assist resets the cooldowns of all her abilities and restores 12% of lost HP.

Killing lets Butterfly hit harder and stay alive longer. Unlike traditional MOBA intuition, you want to be involved in as many kills as possible with Butterfly. It allows her kit to truly shine and makes her special as one of the strongest damage dealers.

Items
Fenrir's Tooth: This weapon is one of the mainstays of any build for Butterfly. With a 30% damage increase to any opponent that is under 50% health, Butterfly will be an effective assassin.

Sonic Boots: Butterfly cannot take a hit very well but Sonic Boots will help both her mobility and early game play by helping her stay in one piece. While it may be tempting to build damage early, this is one of the more recommended items to start building when the game starts.

Spear of Longinus: An important mid to late-game items, Spear of Longinus has all sorts of goodies for Butterfly. The attack damage boost will help Butterfly do what she does best, while the cooldown buff will help keep enemies close with Whirlwind and dead with Sword Propel and Backstab. As an added bonus the Shatter passive will help Butterfly deal with her biggest mismatch with tanky enemies.

The Beast: If Fenrir's Tooth is one of the mainstays of Butterfly's best builds, The Beast is the one item that ties any Butterfly build together. With a nice beefy attack bonus, the real value of The Beast lies with the 25% life steal that will keep Butterfly killing longer.

Ancestral Glory: As the game advances, Butterfly is going to end up with a big target on her back. She'll be able to kill almost any enemy carry and will be a threat to the entire team. The extra health that Ancestral Glory will give her will help her stay in the fight and escape ganks. The Resurrect passive allows Butterfly to get right back into the fight once every 3 minutes. I recommend making sure you have this as either your last item or second to last.

(Luxury) Fafnir's Talon: In your average game, this should be an item you are always keeping in mind. Fafnir's Talon boosts all important stats for Butterfly, while helping her deal with tankier enemies. This is likely going to be the one item that is swapped out for situational builds, but should be part of her normal equipment.

(Luxury) Rankbreaker: One of the best ways to deal with Butterfly is to stack armor. If you notice the enemy team doing this. Rankbreaker is easily the best way to deal with this.

(Luxury) Omni-arms: When the enemy team is damage heavy and grouping together, Omni-arms is kryptonite for squishy team comps. This item not only helps Butterfly hit hard, but also doubles her normal attack power after using an ability.

Arcana
When it comes to building an Arcana page for Butterfly, the good news is that it's extremely straightforward. The bad news is that you will be spending some serious time farming the money to buy the Arcana for her page. The best builds for Butterfly are glass cannon and with these 3 Arcana, she's the glassiest of cannons.

For the red  Arcana, you want to go with Bloodlust. 25 attack with 10 Arcana and 5% life steal may not feel like much, but after hitting your first Sword Propel, you will thank me. It will keep you from having to teleport back to base early game while trading blows with enemies. You can try to use Obliterate for 7 extra attack damage but honestly there is so much more utility in 5% life steal.

Purple Arcana offers a little flexibility. You can fill her page with either Tyrant or Assassinate based on the role you want her to fill. Tyrant is going to help her pack a punch with crit damage, while giving her an extra boost with HP. I recommend this as the standard build for her. Assassinate on the other hand will give her a little extra attack damage and 10% extra movement speed. If you are planning on roaming during laning phase, this is a very appealing option.

With green Arcana, there really isn't any option outside of building Skewer. This is going to give Butterfly a slight boost in attack power but the real value is with the armor pierce.

Early Game
With Butterfly, you want to start with building boots and then taking Sword Propel to start. Once you get to lane, you want to take it slow and start farming gold. At this point of the game, you can consider going all-in on mid-lane if they aren't paying attention. You want to be careful with doing this, however, because if you fail to kill your opponent, you will likely have to go back and miss out on important farming. Giving your lane opponent an advantage and risking them being able to roam.

After your boots are built, it is time to start building out your damage items. Fenrir's Tooth is a great early-game option to deal with trades and getting early kills. The Beast should be the next item you start to build, as Buttefly's lack of sustain becomes painfully evident as you enter the mid-game phase.

Mid Game
Once the initial laning phase is over and you have at least 3 points in Sword Propel and have learned Backstab, you want to try to immediately target the enemy carry and support. Butterfly's kit will allow her to clean up kills on both enemies if you can catch them trading with your teammates. This is an excellent way to give your team an advantage and start making extra money off of killing enemy heroes.

If you are able to take your initial turret by early mid-game, you may also want to catch the enemy jungle off guard and kill them, while stealing their might buff. Take the time during this phase to build the rest of your damage items and start building Ancestral Glory. You want to focus on kills here, but also make sure your lane is pushed and you know where the enemy mid-lane and jungle are at all time.

Late Game
With a full build and the team working together, you can show the enemy team what Butterfly is truly capable of. If your team has a solid initiator, wait for them to jump into the fight and take the opportunity to target the squishiest of the enemy heroes. Enter fights with Backstab and try to get in an auto attack before hitting Whirlwind and another auto attack. Start picking up kills (if they didn't die with Backstab) with Sword Propel and restarting your rotation. An exception to this is if a kill happens before you finish the rotation, make sure you use Backstab again to get behind the enemy team.

As a super-powered glass cannon, Butterfly is also an amazing siege machine. If the team is failing to group up and the enemy team is roaming together, you can push out a lane and take as much as you can before the enemy team shows up. Butterfly is absolutely capable of stealing a game if the enemy team leaves their base undefended. Keep that in mind if your team is backed up against the wall.

FAQ/Tips
I've fallen behind in lane, what do I do? The good news here is that while Butterfly has some very powerful moves, her kit is more dependent on her items than her skills. If you fall behind, carefully farm your lane and try to make a little money off of the jungle and an opportunistic kill or two. Play carefully and wait to make up lost ground when team fights start.

Butterfly talks about her weapon being a dagger. It is the largest dagger I've ever seen. I don't think Butterfly knows what a dagger is.

Once again, do not chase enemy ranged ADC. They are built to kill Butterfly and if given the opportunity, they will do just that.

Execute is your best friend. If you fail to kill an enemy with your initial rotation or fall behind in a trade, do not hesitate to use your talent to get a leg up in the fight.

Matchups
Butterfly is able to trade effectively with almost every mid-lane opponent. She proves to be a big enough threat that a smart mid-lane will try to farm safely, as Butterfly is the ultimate opportunist. There are 2 things that really mess with Butterfly's ability to be an effective assassin. She is easily kited, so trying to directly go in against an enemy ADC will have her likely dead before posing any real threat. Do not rush a ranged carry, it won't end well. Instead wait for them the over extend or get into a fight.

Warriors can also prove a bit of an issue for Butterfly. Butterfly lacks the ability to really sit and trade back and forth with an enemy hero and warriors are built to be beefy and have plenty of stuns. Building armor pierce will help deal with this and also smash up enemy tanks but will curb a bit of her burst at the same time. If the enemy team starts to get tanky, it may be more beneficial to actually roam with a teammate, that way your can supplement your damage with the assistance of your team.

If you have to go up against an enemy Butterfly, you want to take any opportunity to poke her down while keeping your health high. Remember that she has an incredible gap closer and it cannot be stopped. Instead play defensively against her and try to bait her out when your jungle is close or another lane is roaming.
