Introduction
Arthur is a warrior/tank classed hero based around chipping enemy heroes down with varying ability damage. Having a good amount of area of effect CC and damage, Arthur excels at centering himself in the middle of the enemy team and leading his team towards victory.

Skill Build
Deep Impact > Righteous Fervor > Holy Guard

Deep Impact causes Arthur to jump up into the air and slam down towards an enemy hero, dealing 750/1000/1250 damage and knocking surrounding enemies into the air for 0.5 seconds. Enemies in the area around the impact take 100 physical damage every second. This is a great form of engagement in a team fight. Not only do you deal a high amount of damage onto what could be the enemy hero, you also have the chance of the area doing some minor crowd control to fellow enemies.

Righteous Fervor raises his movement speed by 30%. During his next normal attack, Arthur deals additional damage to the enemy and slows their movement speed by 90% for 1-second. The target damaged by this attack is marked for the next 5 seconds. Marked enemies take a bonus of 1% of their max health as magic damage from Arthur’s normal attacks. This ability also raises nearby hero's movement speed for 5 seconds.

Holy Guard summons swords that revolve around Arthur for 5 seconds dealing an additional 100/125/150/175/200/225 magic damage per hit.

Your passive Paragon provides bonus armor scaling with Arthur's level.

Recommended Talents
Flicker, Purify

Flicker - 120-second cooldown: Teleports your hero a short distance.

Flicker is going to be a good ability regardless of who you are playing. Any ability that causes you to get out of a bad situation instantly for free is good. Just be sure you are good enough at controlling the direction you blink towards and learn its range. It has the ability to traverse over most terrain based walls, but not all of them.

Purify - 120-second cooldown: Removes all debuffs and control effects on yourself and gains immunity to them for 1.5 seconds.

Purify gets a mention here as a talent that can be used against team compositions that are heavy in crowd control. As you are someone who relies on getting on the enemy team, anything that stops you from doing that should be removed. As this does give you 1.5 seconds of immunity to crowd control, this is great at getting you to the enemy carry or team member you are after. Flicker is still better since its faster, but if you don't like Flicker, I'd take Purify.

Items
Mantle of Ra, Sonic Boots, Medallion of Try, Frost Cape, Mail of Pain, Hyoga's Edge

Against heavy physical damage ranged take Light Armor first, both can be rushed if they poke hard enough.

Against skill shots, take level 1 boots.

Against melee who you aren't afraid of dying to or taking too much damage, rush into Short Sword to Cleaving Claymore.

Starting our build with Mantle of Ra allows us to stack the damage with Holy Guard. With this kind of build, we basically want to stay on top of the enemy minions or the enemy hero. This way we take their tower by constantly pushing the wave into the lane, or killing them with our consistent area of effect damage.

Finish Sonic Boot, as movement speed is always important for fighting and running from every situation.

After that, you will attempt to rush into either Medallion of Try or Frost Cape depending on if you're going to be taking more damage from physical or magic damage.

Finish the build in order afterward.

Arcana
Indomitable, Assassinate, Valiance

Indomitable grants us attack speed, health, and armor, making it an overall well rounded red Arcana. However, if you are missing this arcana and want to save some gold. Anything that grants armor or movement speed will fit this Arcana.

Assassinate adds some attack damage and movement speed. Mainly we need to get closer to people, and 1% movement speed per Arcana is better than what we can find in other Arcana. If you absolutely need to exchange this for another one, at least try for some movement speed.

Valiance is maxed health and cooldown speed. I feel you can change this with quite a few Arcana. Mythril is a good replacement if you don't have this Arcana.

Early Game
Early game Arthur has to decide on how to play based on who's he's up against top lane. If the opponent is a physical damaging melee hero, you are good to go. Ranged you can attempt to deal with, depending on how easily you can get on top of them. Magical damage, however, will be something you will probably want to play very defensively against, since you lack any form of magic resist or health regen early. Being melee always comes with a big weakness to poke, and magic poke affects us worse still.

Middle Game
At this point of the game, you will hopefully have pushed down the top lane by being too tanky to push out of the lane. Now you just want to roam around to the different lanes and charge into the enemy giving your team the ability to make an advantageous situation. Of course, this does not include tower diving or getting too far ahead of your allies.

Late Game
Late game, you start to do less damage to enemies. Other than your percentage-based damage, you are looking to mainly stick to the enemy carry and keep them busy. Late game Arthur doesn't excel as well as some other champions in his position. Not being the best at being a tank, and not being the best at damage leaves you in an odd place. You want to make sure you have an advantage before this point of the game.

FAQ/Tips
Righteous Fervor can be used on enemy towers. This allows you to do more damage to the enemy tower by using your normal attack and then casting Righteous Fervor to immediately attack again doing bonus damage.

Matchups
Ormarr, Easy

While you don't have a great way of stopping Ormarr from stopping you. He has no way of stopping you from doing damage to him. Stuns do not stop Holy Guard or Mantle of Ra's effects. Your ability to deal percentage damage can also be considered better since his gets weaker as you lose health, as yours constantly deals similar damage. Just stack armor and be sure to pop Holy Guard as he runs at you.

Butterfly, Easy

Butterfly's abilities require her to be in a close proximity due to her short range. This will place her within range of Mantle of Ra and Holy Guard's area of effect damage. Butterfly also deals phyiscal damage to her opponenets, allowing us to fully use our passive to reduce all of the damage we take from her.

Toro, Easy

Toro is basically the same thing as Arthur except with more crowd control and more health. Toro will do what he can to slow you, but you also have abilities that slow and gain speed. Basically, in the end, It depends on how each hero is played, but Arthur is the better top lane in 1v1 situations. In a group, Toro is a bit more useful as a tank with CC. He also scales better as a tank during the late game.

Alice, Hard

Alice does extremely well against anyone who has to get close to an enemy to do damage, as she will constantly slow you and gain movement speed. You shouldn't have to deal with an Alice 1v1. If one does decide to go top lane, you can expect a lot of magic damage, and no way to get to her.

Ilumia, Hard

Ilumia has a multitude of hard-hitting magic spells with knockbacks. No matter what you do, you will not be able to stay within range of Ilumia. Her damage is more burst and your abilities will be more sustained damage. Knowing this, you can assume that she will simply knock you back and be done. Leaving your Holy Guard mostly wasted.

Raz, Hard

Raz has range, short cooldowns, and is covered in good magic damage poke. However, the main thing that really makes Raz great against Arthur is his extensive ability to knock back enemies. Using this knowledge correctly he can easily keep you away from any champion you attempt to get next to.
